Our Mission

Cap Cana Invitational was founded with a singular vision: to create the most prestigious, professionally managed billfish release tournament in the Caribbean. We combine world-class competition with the unparalleled beauty of Cap Cana, Dominican Republic, delivering an experience that honors the sport, the ocean, and the angling community.

The Venue

Marina Cap Cana

Nestled on the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic, Marina Cap Cana is the largest private marina in the Caribbean. With 150 slips accommodating vessels up to 200 feet, world-class fuel and provisioning services, and direct access to the prolific waters of the Mona Passage. It is the ultimate home port for competitive offshore fishing.

The Competition

Tournament Format

Release Tournament

All billfish are released. Points are awarded per species. Blue Marlin releases earn 300 points, all other billfish earn 100 points each.

Two Divisions

Compete in the Sonar Division where omnidirectional sonar is permitted, or the Non-Sonar Division where omnidirectional sonar may not be used. Side-scan, downscan, and standard fishfinders are permitted in the Non-Sonar Division.

3 Fishing Days

Lines in at 7:30 AM AST, lines out at 4:30 PM AST. Three intense days of competition across the waters of the Mona Passage and beyond.

Optional Jackpots

Enter the Release WTA, Overall Release Points, Daily Release, First Release of the Day, or any of the gamefish jackpots to multiply your potential winnings. Pools grow as more teams enter.
